Discounted !2008 Sierra Nevada Skiing and Snowboarding
It is that time of the year again. With the winter in the Sacramento Valley comes the short drive up the hill to some great mountains to ride. These days everyone is trying to save a buck. I will do my best to search out the best deals and share them with you so that you can plan a trip to the mountains on a shoestring budget. It looks like we will all be holding our breath for opening day. Right now the only places that are open are making their own snow.
Boreal Ridge
Boreal has always been a favorite of snowboarders and the younger riders. It is close to Sacramento and has a base of both man made and natural snow. Famous for their night pass that allows you to ride from 3:00pm to 9:30 for $25.00 a great deal if you like to ride under the lights! They have a bundle of deals this season check out their home page for more deals.
Donner Ski Ranch
Donner has always been one of my favorite places for a low key ride. Most of the time it is not crowded and it is about 1 and a half hours from Sacramento making it a reasonable drive for the family. This year they might have the best deals anywhere for a midweek trip. Monday and Friday Military, Police, and Firefighters get a $20.00 lift ticket. That price is good for any adult Tuesday-Thursday. Naturally they blocked out the holiday weeks check here for dates price for weekends.
Sierra st Tahoe
The best deal here is to go for the double whammy pass that allows you to ride at Northstaron the same season pass again blackout dates apply depending on what pass you buy. It looks like they are not worried about the economy being down overall I cant see any deals that will nock your sox off. The good news is that they do offer a variety of options that you can choose from so if you are good at planning ahead you might find a great deal that suits you. Check out their home page for the full scoop.
Northstar at Tahoe
The Adult 6 pack for $299.00 is your best deal at Northstar if you didn’t go for the double Whammy with Sierra. It looks like their are no blackout dates BUT you have to purchase them by December 15. Check here for more info.
Kirkwood Mountain Resort
You will have a tough time finding a great deal at Kirkwood I suppose that if you did one of their multi day passes you would come out good. Some of their stay and ride packages are also a good deal. Not the cheapest place to ride in the Sierras but a great resort and mountain to ride. Again deadlines for season passes are on December 15. Go to their web site for more info.
Homewood Mountain Resort
Offering some $29.00 deal days and incentives if you hold season passes for another resort Homewood is taking a stab discounted lift tickets. Go Here
Squaw Valley USA
Need I say more? If you are looking for a deal look somewhere else. If you are looking for an awesome mountain this is the place. The do have some incentives here. If you wanted to score major points with the Ladies head up for some holiday Ice skating and hot toddy’s at the Olympic Ice Pavilion.
Heavenly Resort
It looks like Heavenly will have some fair deals this year. Here is the link. Always a great place to go if you have family or friends that don’t like to ride. So close to everything South Shore has to offer. Leave the less adventurous in town while you hit the slopes.
Don’t forget to check with caltrans for up to date road conditions when traveling to the Sierras. Visit the Cal Trans web page for current info.
Interstate 80:
